Our story

Why we're here

This network, and the law it helped pass, exist because of a tragedy that should never have happened.

A Brave Voice, A Caring Heart - Trish Waschbisch - Against Domestic Violence

In 2013, a beloved advocate and interim director of Rainbow House, Trish Waschbisch, was tragically killed by her boyfriend. Determined to prevent such tragedies, Rainbow House and End Domestic Abuse WI led the effort to change Wisconsin's restraining order venue laws.

Signed into law in April 2018, these protections give greater anonymity and safety to specific petitioners — including the advocates, court staff, legal professionals, and law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives to helping others, along with their families.

We created this network, and this website, to carry Trish's memory forward: so that no advocate has to face harm alone, and so that the people who protect others can find protection for themselves.

In loving memory

This work is dedicated to Trish Waschbisch — a brave voice and a caring heart.
